Pepper Grove Playground

‍As part of Balboa Park, this playground is the perfect place for a relaxing picnic, especially when you want access to additional amenities and attractions before or after the picnic. There are museums, play parks, the San Diego Zoo and more throughout Balboa Park. This park is home to playground equipment like play structures, a pretend zip line and a load of picnic tables that you can relax at while the little ones play.

Kit Carson Park

‍When looking for places purely for picnicking, Kit Carson is one of our all-time favorites. This park is loaded with amenities, including ponds, tennis courts, baseball diamonds, soccer fields, playground equipment, picnic tables and barbecue grills and more. It's a location that you and the entire family can relax at and spend the day in the sun.

Kellogg Park

‍Though there isn't too much at this park, it's the perfect stopping point if you want to picnic before heading to the beach. Even though it isn't loaded with amenities and play structures like the other parks, it's located right near La Jolla Shores, making the beach just a short walk away.

There's a little something for every member of the family at these different picnicking locations. Whether you want to see museums or special exhibits, you want to be surrounded by sports fields or you want a day at the beach, each of those things is possible with these picnic locations.
